Qualified Nurses (for both Transport and Agency)

VKL mental health nurses work with adolescents, adults and older people suffering from various mental health conditions. The work involves helping people to recover from their illness or come to terms with it in order to maximise their life potential.

Mental health nurses liaise with psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, GPs, social workers and other health professionals to plan and deliver care using a multidisciplinary patient-centred approach.

As a registered mental health nurse (RMN), you may work in a community health care centre, a hospital outpatients department, for transportation of clients, a specialist unit, or a secure residential unit.


Healthcare Assistants

VKL Healthcare Assistants provide care and support to individuals within the mental health sector,  nursing and residential home environments. Your role is to ensure service users receive safe, individualised and effective standards of care, at all times, whilst maintaining confidentiality.

When on assignments you are accountable to the Nurse/Care Manager, and will conduct yourself as directed by senior management and staff. You will ensure that the highest standard of service is provided at all times, in a way that meets the individual care needs of service users, whilst respecting their rights, privacy and dignity.

Your aim is to maintain and improve an individuals independence by creating opportunities which take into account personal choice and preference, enabling individuals to exercise control over their life’s direction and personal affairs, whilst meeting their physical, social, health and emotional needs.

You will be required to work as part of a team and to represent VKL in a friendly, efficient and professional manner. You must complete the care activities assigned to you using the best of your abilities and are expected to assist in your own personal development. In order to fulfil the requirements of the position you must be in general good health, able to withstand the pressures of assignments.

Ambulance Care Assistants/ Drivers

As an Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) or Ambulance Care Assistant Driver you will play an important role in transporting patients to and from hospitals and places of safety. The role involves driving, or assisting as part of a crew, patients with different requirements based on their individual needs. Some patients may be acutely unwell and in the midst of a mental health crisis.

The job purpose is to provide and maintain a caring environment for these patients and provide a safe transport service, maintaining high standards of patient care, safety and timeliness. Full training is offered.
